Intranet, or ‘enterprise’ search as it is sometimes called, continues to be a challenge for many companies. The old standby indexing approaches deliver either too many or too few results, and filtering mechanisms are unintuitive or missing altogether. Multi-lingual searches are a non-starter.

Quantum Semantics Inc, a Calgary company, has developed a graph-based, faceted business glossary service that acts as the hub for intranet search. It starts with the simple idea that finding the meaning of an abbreviation, acronym, code, term, or value is a great way to not only dramatically improve search, but to provide an architecturally sound foundation for managing metadata, content, and even business analytics.

John O’Gorman, the principal and founder of Quantum Semantics, will give us a quick demonstration of the service and its potential, and talk about his ‘language first’ approach to enterprise information management.
