We will see a case study of how metadata management was successfully implemented at a data company in Calgary, and how it remains the backbone of their data architecture.
Juraj (Yuri) Pivovarov has spent the last 20 years working in data related disciplines in the oil and gas industry. These include data warehousing, data architecture, metadata management, and data modeling. His clients include Oilfield Accounting Service (now Zedi), Divestco, CWD Inc, Nexen Cnooc Ltd, and Alberta Energy Regulator.
With his academic grounding in Computer Science (M.Sc., B.Sc.) and Mathematics (B.Sc.), he has found a natural fit in the intersections of data modeling and graph theory, especially in the analysis and management of large scale data models such as PPDM, with 2600+ entities. Prior to his roles in data management, Juraj is credited with inventing a new line tracing algorithm for use in automated image processing of Gas Charts, which eventually eliminated the need for manually-operated electronic integrators.
Juraj is currently working as an independent consultant through his company Metadata Innovations, which helps customers optimize the value of their information assets by understanding the structure, integrity, quality and movement of those assets in support of critical business decisions.
